Bright Sky, Night Sky

Description

Through this activity students will apply information known about the differences found in the sky.

Objectives

The student knows that the sky looks different during the day than it does at night.

Materials

-Chart paper
-markers
-activity sheets

Preparations

1. Collect materials.
2. Copy activity sheets.

Procedures

1. Have students enter into a dark room.

2. Discuss the visual atmosphere of the room when the lights are off.

3. How does the sky look at night.

4. Turn lights on.

5. Discuss the visual atmosphere of the room when the lights are on.

6. Take students outside to observe daytime sky.

7. Return to room to chart responses.

8. Inform students that they will be given an activity sheet.

9. Explain that students will cut pictures apart and place under appropriate column, Bright Sky, Night Sky.

10. Show students the checklist then using the checklist tell the students how they will be assessed and what will show mastery.

11. When students finish this task, ask them to raise their hands so that you can check their work. Walk around formatively assessing students� work.

12. When all students are finished, gather activity sheet and review what has been taught.

Assessments

Using the chart at the bottom of the student activity worksheet, formatively assess student�s ability to know that the sky looks different during the day than it does at night.
