Check this out! When developing instruction, educators concentrate on instructional outcomes from the beginning.  At the center of attention is the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and processes that targets what the student should know and be able to do. Planning then focuses on expectations and student achievement toward the standard(s)/benchmark(s) identified.

Educators are constantly seeking ways to help
students understand and help themselves.  Rather
than judging students by comparison to others,
they encourage students through instructional
processes to strive for their personal best.
The challenge then becomes the incorporation
of teaching techniques that appeal to different
learning styles encouraging students to want
to learn.  Since a variety of styles of thinking and
learning need to be nurtured, educators face the
dilemma of successfully reaching all students.
Such processes require higher cognitive functions,
the incorporation of advanced investigative
techniques, and real-world awareness.
Teachers attune to these needs encouraging
students to consider the following:

View facts and information in new
and different ways

Raise new questions

Explore unresolved issues

Final thought. Before moving into the actual

planning process, it might be helpful to reflect on
the Keys to Success that have been presented
throughout this module.  Click below for the

What is the next step in the Process of

Standards-based Planning (CAI)?

Curriculum expectations have been targeted, the

appropriate assessment has been developed, and
instructional strategies have been explored and
outlined.  The next step is to develop a lesson plan.

The Application Module will assist you in transforming

the CAI Lesson Planning Tool into a complete lesson
plan via a lesson plan template.  It also includes the
process of submitting your plan for publication on the
Beacon Website.  Submitting your lesson plan to
Beacon is an excellent means of providing an
outstanding standards-based lesson for other teachers
to use.
