Getting started!

Why
do educators need to think about standards-based
planning? On
a daily basis, they plan wonderful teaching
strategies and learning activities that stimulate and
challenge the minds of their students. In addition, they
juggle hectic schedules that include many extra and
unexpected activities.
In recent years, almost every state has developed
curriculum standards and assessments that measure
academic achievement. In other words, these standards
are now the curriculum that defines what students should
know and be able to do.
Since these standards are the curriculum for which students are
accountable, then doesn’t it make sense that instructional
strategies target the standards?
Many teachers have
found standards-based planning a valuable process for implementing
the state standards. |
