A digital clock is different from the other clocks in that there are no hands on this clock.   You read this clock by reading the first set of number or numbers as the hour and the second set as minutes.

The colon (:) separates the hour and minutes. It also tells you whether the time is in the morning hours or the hours after noon.  It will read either AM or PM.
