| Gregor Johann Mendel was an Augustinian
monk. |
Mendel lived in the 1800's
and conducted experiments on pea plants. |
| Mendel tested around 28,000 pea plants carefully
analyzing 7 different characteristics
about the plants. |
Because of Mendel's hard work, the things that he
observed later became known as the laws of heredity. He is responsible for the
creation of two laws called Mendel's
Laws. |
Mendel's work was not
appreciated until the next century when three different investigators realized its
importance. Mendel's work was ignored during his lifetime. |
