England was a very crowded place.  Many of the people who lived there were poor.  The English were looking for a way to solve these problems.  So, they sent the first group of colonists to the New World.

The letter says that in 1607, a group of colonists left England.  They sailed to the New World. There they began the first English colony known as Jamestown.
