Looking at expository writing

Take a close look at the following paragraph. The writer attempts to use the elements of expository writing; however, the paragraph has one sentence in it that does not fit with what we are learning about expository writing.

While reading, think about the sentence you feel doesn't belong.

(1)  While hunting, the lioness patiently stalked her prey using every bit of available cover and then ran down the injured impala with a rapid rush. (2)   It is the lionesses of a pride who do most of the hunting. (3) When hunting, the cats pay no attention to the wind's direction, which can carry their scent to their prey. (4) They also tire after running only short distances; a high proportion of their hunts thus end in failure.
